Set Class Calculator (SCC) is a tool designed to efficiently compute different representations of a group of pitch classes. It offers functions such as Normal Form, Prime Form, Interval Vector, and measures of inversional and transpositional symmetry. Users can input integers or note names on a pitch-class clock face or a miniature piano keyboard. The clock face feature aids in identifying the intervallic structure of pitch sets and promptly referencing the normal form.

Moreover, SCC not only calculates the normal form, prime form, and interval vector but also provides a comprehensive list of all transpositions (Tn) and inversions (TnI or In) in the normal form of the set. It includes a unique "clock face mode" displaying each transposition and inversion with distinctive clock faces. Notably, common tones are highlighted in orange, while inversions reveal inversional mappings and axes.

The development of Set Class Calculator (SCC) was motivated by a desire to support Music Theory IV students at Idaho State University (Pocatello) in their studies. It serves as a valuable resource for quickly identifying, exploring, and visualizing relationships among set classes, promoting a deeper comprehension and appreciation of set-based composition. It is worth noting that students were encouraged to master manual calculations before utilizing this tool.
